As a local farm, we believe in supporting the local food movement and connecting farmers with their customers. Our cows are treated with the utmost care and allowed to live as naturally as possible, grazing in pastures rather than feed bunks in buildings.
Our approach to farming involves avoiding unnecessary chemicals and promoting a healthy ecosystem. While we do not exclusively practice organic farming, we never use hormones, pesticides, or conventional fertilizers on our cattle or land. Instead, we use a biodigester to produce fertilizer from cow manure generated at our milking parlor. We only use antibiotics on our cows in cases of life-threatening illness.
Unlike many other farms, we do not ship organic grain from other regions, as this would increase our carbon footprint. Instead, we grow most of our feed locally and source the rest responsibly. Our cows primarily consume grass-based diets, along with free-choice non-GMO alfalfa, Florida citrus pulp and pellets for added calcium and vitamins during milking, as well as free-choice salt, trace minerals, and Florida-grown sugar cane molasses to provide the necessary nutrients for high-quality milk. When grass is scarce, the cows are supplemented with sprouted barley.
