Explore the natural beauty and rich history of Green Springs Park, a 31-acre park located in Volusia County. The park boasts one of Florida's few green sulfur springs and offers visitors a variety of recreational opportunities including paved and natural trails, scenic overlooks, a playground, and picnic pavilions.
Green Springs has been an important landmark throughout the history of Volusia County, dating back to the time of early Native American settlements. The spring was considered sacred by the Mayaca and Seminoles due to its healing properties. In the 1800s, Green Springs was a popular destination for tourists looking to enjoy the St. Johns River and recuperate from various illnesses. The spring was also used for entertaining guests by wine importer and steamboat baron Frederick deBary.
Unfortunately, swimming and fishing are not permitted at Green Springs Park, however, visitors can enjoy nature trails and scenic overlooks. The park is also a trailhead for the Spring-to-Spring Trail and the East Central Regional Rail Trail. The East Central Regional Rail Trail begins at Green Springs and travels 5.7 miles to State Road 415 in Osteen, with more segments of the trail in the works.
